Study of the Influence of Heat Treatment on OSB Panels Produced with Eucalyptus Wood in Different Layer Compositions

In view of the lack studies aimed at producing and assessing effects heat treatment Oriented Strand Board (OSB) panels, this paper evaluated thermal degradation kinetics raw materials, physical mechanical properties panels made with eucalyptus wood castor oil-based polyurethane adhesive. The OSB were subjected to post-production (at 175 200 °C), replacing use chemical preservatives. Furthermore, quantity materials varied in face:core:face layers proportions 25:50:25 30:40:30, aiming evaluate possibility structural applications for panels. results statistically analyzed compared specifications classifications indicated by European Standard EN 300 literature. application improved decreasing interaction water did not reduce below recommended levels. variation layer that all them can be adopted without compromising panel’s physical-mechanical performance. All treatments are compatible classification OSB/4 (heavy duty load-bearing boards humid conditions), presenting technical feasibility excellent profile civil construction applications.
